Privacy Policy
Aurea is an iPhone app made by an independent developer, Santiago Gómez. It shows when golden hour, blue hour and true night fall at the places you choose. This policy explains what the app does with your data. The short version: there are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. What you save stays on your phone.
Your location
If you turn on Use Current Location, Aurea asks iOS for permission to read your location while the app is open. It is used for one thing: to work out where you are so the app can show the light for that place. You can revoke this at any time in Settings on your iPhone, and the app works without it: you can add places by searching for them instead.
Your location is never sent to me. There are no servers behind the app that could receive it.
Places you save
The places you add, the one you have selected, and your preferences (time format, default light) are stored on your device only, in the app's local storage. They are not synced or uploaded anywhere. Deleting the app deletes them.
Third-party services
To do its job the app talks to two Apple services. Neither receives anything that identifies you to me.
- Apple Weather (weather). For each place you view, and for the place a widget shows, Aurea requests a cloud-cover, visibility and precipitation forecast through Apple's WeatherKit. The request contains the coordinates of that place and the dates. It goes to Apple, not to me, and is handled by iOS under Apple's privacy policy. Weather data is provided by Apple Weather (attribution).
- Apple Maps (place search). When you search for a place, the text you type is sent to Apple's MapKit to return suggestions and coordinates. This is handled by iOS under the same policy.
Sunrise, sunset, twilight and moon times are computed on your phone. No request is made for them.
What the app doesn't do
- No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No accounts, sign-in, or email collection.
- No selling or sharing of personal data with anyone, ever.
Purchases
Aurea Pro is bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; the app never sees your card, your Apple Account details or your name. What the app receives from Apple is a signed record that says whether Pro is active for the account signed in on the phone, and that is all it keeps: a yes or no, stored on your device and shared with the app's own widgets so they know whether to draw. Nothing about your purchase is sent to me, and I have no server that could receive it.
App Store
The app may occasionally ask if you'd like to rate it. That prompt is Apple's, and whether you respond is between you and Apple. Downloads and purchases are handled by the App Store under Apple's terms.
Children
Aurea is not directed at children under 13. Since the app collects no personal data, there is nothing to collect from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
